Québec.  After your intake appointment you decide whether to attend. Our program coordinator,  Nancy Defalco Bailey is at 613-319-6750.  Nancy also handles payments and insurance receipts. 1. Dr. Bailey’s contribution creates a powerful intersect between high-results AcuDetox® ear acupuncture and modern neuroscience, by adding high-impact mindfulness and neuroplasticity.

AcuDestress is a life-altering energy-shifting training session, by which, following one month of treatment, non-meditators fast track to mindfulness, then learn neuroplasticity, all initiated/sustained/modulated by AcuDetox ear acupuncture. Many recipients report that they become able, subsequently, to manage stress without psychotherapy and some are able to come off psychoactive medication.

People planning to attend may enjoy reading  our favourite book on neuroplasticity. The Brain That Changes Itself is by Canadian author Dr. Norman Doidge. Dr. Bailey’s own (free) explanatory online book The Magic of AcuDetox Part 1. and the page on this site devoted to Mindfulness and Neuroplasticity are helpful explanations. Reading, however, is optional, before and during sessions.
  1. QUESTION: Who is Dr. Brian Bailey (see also  curriculum vitae)

  3. I found my calling while I was a medical student as a live-in therapist for 8-13 year olds at Kingston’s Sunnyside Children’s Centre which was supervised by psychiatrist Dr. Brian McConville. After graduating from Queen’s University I entered family medicine in 1969 in my home town of Smiths Falls Ontario, and because of the small community’s shortage of mental health services, rapidly became interested in and trained, eclectically to look after my patients’ mental and emotional growth and development. I have always loved this work. But I found too that it was difficult to devote the time it required in order to do a good and complete job due to the time demands of medical practice.

QUESTION:  How did AcuDestress originate and why?

  1. I searched widely, gaining expertise along the way, for highly effective method which I could deliver and my patients could integrate fully over a short period. Early forays taught me a lot but failed the acid test of the time they took and/or the permanence and depth of the change, until I heard psychiatrist Dr. Michael O. Smith M.D. from New York City speak in Toronto in 1990.
